An original story, inventive in charming little ways, with a captivating cast who don't do anything flashy or exaggerated - and they don't have to. The word 'simple' keeps coming to mind but that isn't fair, it's far from simple. 'Honest' might be a better description. It's a humble, earthy, grim, damp film. It's gripping but in a slow, disturbing, suspicious sort of way. The CGI is restricted and well-balanced when used, thankfully, so there's nothing to scoff at or remove you from Vesper's world. I very much enjoyed it. Like it's protagonist and namesake, it doesn't ever give up hope.
