Jeamie Tshikeva suffered a nasty cut in the first defeat of his fledgling professional boxing career.

The Brit came up against Igor Adiel Macedo at the iconic York Hall on Saturday night in Tshikeva's sixth pro bout.

And six rounds into the fight Macedo landed a heavy right hand that opened up a horrific cut above Tshikeva's left eye.

The referee immediately recognised how bad the cut was and quickly waved off the fight, as Tshikeva was attended to by his corner and the ringside doctor.

Tshikeva was a highly rated amateur and previously unbeaten before this latest contest.

But now, the Brit's record stands at 5-1, with three knockouts to his name.

And boxing fans may not see Tshikeva in the ring for some time, as it will take a while to recover from such an awful injury.

Meanwhile Macedo, who has only lost once in his career, was delighted with the upset victory.

In his post-fight interview, Macedo said: "I'm very happy because I saw that my opponent is strong but five fights, three knockouts, that's disrespectful to me because [I have] 11 wins, 11 knockouts.

"But maybe I'll come back, maybe we'll have a rematch.
