Scottie Scheffler could have new career lined up after golf as he 'outplays' world no.1 in different

Golf is not the only sport world no.1 Scottie Scheffler is good at - and he may have a new career lined up.

The American played pickleball against tennis star John Isner and pickleball's no.1 player Ben Johns in an exhibition match earlier this week.

He participated alongside pickleball star Ann Leigh Waters, who is the top-ranked female, and Scheffler did not look out of place.

The golfer was clearly enjoying himself on court and even dominated one rally during the celebrity fun.

A video posted by the PGA Tour shows Scheffler getting the better of Johns with some impressive hand speed and ultimately winning the point.

Scheffler's wife Meredith recently confirmed he is obsessed with pickleball after competing alongside fellow golfer Jordan Spieth at a Celebrity Pro-Am in Texas earlier this year.

The golfers made headlines with their skills during a mismatch against sporting giants Dirk Nowitzki and Isner.

One commentator said: "One thing I’ll tell you about Jordan and Scottie when you watch them. They’re very, like, instinctful [sic] athletic. They know how to hit a ball, in other words. In their sport, they have hand-eye coordination, right? And so you see that a little bit, giving Isner and Nowitzki a game here.”

Another responded: “Scheffler has been playing for a few months and is already terrific.”

Pickleball is a sport that was invented in America and is becoming increasingly popular.

While Scheffler has endured a fantastic golfing campaign, it does look as though he is mastering another sport.

After a fine 2023 PGA Tour, he topped the official golf world rankings, having previously won the Masters in 2022.

The golfer clinched the 2023 WM Phoenix Open and has secured 13 top-10 finishes.

He was most recently part of the American team at the Ryder Cup, as Europe were victorious.

His next tournament will be the 2023 Hero World challenge, which is set to begin the first week of December.
