Anthony Joshua jokes he'll make GoFundMe to raise money for Deontay Wilder to step aside and let him
Anthony Joshua has mockingly suggested he will create a GoFundMe page to pay off Deontay Wilder and allow him to fight Tyson Fury next.
Earlier this week, it seemed the unified heavyweight champion was all-but-set for an undisputed title fight with his British rival.
However, on Monday night Wilder won his arbitration case to force a third fight with Fury.
This means that the situation is now out of AJ's hands.
Either Wilder agrees a deal to step aside and allow the two Brits to fight, or the trilogy must happen next.
Fury claimed on Tuesday that Wilder has asked for $20million to step aside – a figure too steep for them to pay.
He said: “What a joke Deontay Wilder has become, asked for $20million to move over. Joker. Looks like I have to crack his skull again.”
However, Wilder’s new trainer Malik Scott has insisted this is not the case.
Scott stated: “Wilder declined and had no interest in step-aside money. Y’all dealing with a whole different type motherf***er over here.
“He want the blood, not that step-aside money. ‘Retribution is upon us’”
Now AJ has had his say.
Joshua posted on his Snapchat: "I'm thinking about starting a GoFundMe page to raise money for Wilder's step-aside payment.
"So I can smoke that fat guy with skinny legs from Manchester.
"These heavyweights need a podcast or something, they do more talking than fighting."
Lawrence Okolie, who is a close friend of AJ's and managed by him, reposted it on his Instagram story with the caption: "Yo, Anthony Joshua actually finished me with this one," following by a laughing emoji.
The WBO have set Joshua's team a 48-hour deadline to show them that the Fury fight can still happen next, or they will order him to defend against mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk instead.
